  • A - Ca' d'Oro

    Built in the 15th century this house was once covered in gold leaf, hence its name Ca'd'Oro (The Golden House). It now is a museum with a sublime collection of art & sculptures.

  • C - Doges Palace

    This ancient palace was built from 1309 to 1424 and once was home to the Doge of Venice but is now a museum. Badly damaged by fire in 1574, the original gothic style was respected in the subsequent rebuilding work.
  • D - Gallerie dell' Accademia

    As home to some of Venetian art's most historic collections this museum is a popular cultural attraction. The art on display here predates the 18th century and includes Leonardo da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man".
  • E - Gondola Cruise

    With its opulent design and historic tradition Saint Mark's Basilica stands apart from any other basilica making it the most beautiful sight in Venice. Built as a symbol of power, it still holds a presence of opulence today. The Horses of Saint Mark were originally installed in 1254. The basilica itself dates back to 11th Century.

    The Rialto Markets is where you can find a unique array of Venetian goods. Aside from the spread of fresh fish, vegetables and foodstuff on offer, expect to see authentic leather clothing and footwear alike.

    No trip to Venice would be complete without a gentle trip on a gondola allowing you to take in some beautiful architectural sights. The romantic in you may take up the option of the gondolier singing as he rows, but expect an extra charge for this.

    This Gothic-Renaissance church was built from 1444 to 1515 and is the supposed resting place of Zachariah, the father of John The Baptist. This beautiful Venice church is home to the masterful painting Bellini's "Madonna and Child".

  • K - The Bridge of Sighs

    This bridge was the crossing point from the Venice interrogation rooms to the jail on the other side. It was given the name Bridge of Sighs by Lord Byron as it was the last view of Venice that prisoners would have before being jailed.

    The Mercerie is a set of narrow streets between St Marks Square and The Rialto and offers an array of Venetian shopping including jewelery, linen and shoes.
  • M - The Peggy Guggenheim Collection

    Mainly hosting Peggy Guggenheim's personal collection of art this compact Venice museum does offer some treasures in the form of pieces from Picasso, Dali and Pollock. It is also well known as the location of the 1948 bronze statue "The Angel of the City" by Marino Marini.
  • N - The Rialto Bridge

    One of Venice's most well-known bridges, the Rialto Bridge in one of the three bridges spanning the Grand Canal which dissects Venice. The canal was first crossed in 1181 via a pontoon bridge; however the present stone bridge was completed in 1591. The bridge stands out as a landmark in a city of many.
